Solid preventive care is the foundation for your oral and overall health. Good at-home hygiene habits, in combination with professional cleanings, can keep your smile free from decay and other oral health issues like gum disease. Regular exams allow us to monitor your oral health so you can address any minor concerns before they become larger, more costly, and more invasive issues.
Pediatric Cleanings & Exams
Just as for adults, dental check-ups and cleanings for kids are important. Our friendly dental team will ensure your child’s teeth and gums are clean and healthy. We also examine their mouth and any necessary X-rays to catch any potential tooth troubles early. These visits are a great time to chat about what to expect as your child’s smile grows, including tips for oral care at home and food choices that can help keep their teeth strong and bright.
Pediatric Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays, a quick and efficient method for capturing images of your child’s dental health, are used only when deemed necessary by the dentist. Typically, X-rays are recommended every few years, though children with a higher risk of oral disease may need more frequent scans.
Pediatric Preventive Dentistry
Infant Dentistry
According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), a baby should see a dentist within six months of the eruption of their first tooth, or by age one. These early visits are essential for ensuring your child’s teeth are developing properly. During these appointments, we’ll also inform you of proper hygiene techniques to keep that little smile strong and healthy, along with nutritional guidance to keep cavities at bay.
Pediatric Dental Sealants
Dental sealants are like invisible tooth protectors! We paint a clear, safe resin on your child’s teeth that hardens under a special light. It acts like a shield, keeping away cavity-causing bacteria and food particles. This treatment is especially great for back teeth, where cavities are most likely to form.
Pediatric Oral Cancer Screenings
Yes, even kids need oral cancer screenings! This quick and safe check can be done without your child even noticing. Our dental team will take a good look at your child’s mouth, gums, and oral tissues for any signs of trouble. If we spot something out of the ordinary, we’ll guide you through the next steps. Regular dental visits can help us keep your child’s mouth healthy and happy!
Pediatric Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride treatments offer a simple, non-invasive way to prevent dental decay. After your child’s cleaning, a fluoride-rich gel or varnish is applied, followed by a short period of no eating or drinking. Fluoride initiates a process called “remineralization,” strengthening teeth with essential minerals.
Pediatric Sedation
Is your child having trouble staying still at the dentist? Do they get anxious about dental visits? We have a solution: sedation options. Our sedation methods can help calm restlessness and anxiety, making sure your child gets the dental care they need without fear or stress. This helps your child stay calm and comfortable and starts building a positive attitude towards dental care and oral health. If you think sedation might help your child, let us know. We’ll help you find the right option for them.
Pediatric Airway Dentistry
Did you know that an airway issue can impact your child’s overall health, including their quality of sleep? Untreated airway problems can have far-reaching effects. That’s why our expert treatments are tailored to open up your child’s airway, allowing them to breathe with ease. Say goodbye to sleep troubles and hello to better overall well-being for your little one.
